Spring Fever

Anybody getting Spring Fever yet? Just a few more days and Spring will officially be here. It appears that some of you are getting Bluegrass Fever as we've been getting several calls for campsites & tickets lately. If you're planning to camp in September, please let us know ASAP! We are extremely limited for campsites then. There are still several good spots left for JuneFest. But as soon as we get those brochures distributed, that will probably change.
You know, you don't have to wait until our festivals to come to Dumplin Valley. We have opened the farm up as a campground now and you can camp with us any time. It would be fun to see some of you pickers here in the new pavilion. Joe's almost finished with it and thinks it will be a good pickin' spot.
We're still waiting on the new flyers. As soon as we get them, we'll be mailing them out. If you want one, just let us know.
Enjoy this pretty weather today..............I hear the rain is on the way!

Flyers................Finally!

Well, we are really getting close to having the new JuneFest brochures. I think we will have them in about a week or so. If you would like to help us scatter them around, just drop me a line (dumplingrass@comcast.net) and we will be more than happy to send you some. Since we are running a little behind on getting the flyers out this year, we're going to need a good "street team" to help get the word out about our exciting new event. Joe and I try to attend as many events as time and money and work will allow but we can't get to all of them. So..............if you're going to be attending any bluegrass events and would like to take a few flyers, let us know. I do want to acknowledge those of you who are spreading the word already........Bob & Barbara in their Bluegrass Express! The sound crew helps out a lot as well as Jean and Roger and many others. THANKS!
I know I've said it before, but we are excited and anxious to present our lineup for your enjoyment. There are old favorites and new bands, too. All of them are great.
On a serious note.............we just found out this week that the mother of the lady (Barb) who sells our t-shirts, answers the phone, gives info, etc. is terminally ill with cancer. Their family could certainly use some prayers at this time. Barb's husband, Gene is probably one of the first people you see when you arrive as he works the gate with the crew. We've been able to depend on them every year to help out so let's keep them in our thoughts and prayers.
One other thing I would like to mention.............Jimbo Whaley is having his cd release on 3/29 in Gatlinburg. You can find more information at jimbowhaley.com.
Oh..........and one "other" other thing........don't forget to VOTE. I know you all are reading this blog as some of you have told me you've seen it. But it looks like you are a little hesitant to leave comments or vote. I promise, it won't hurt a thing if you leave a comment or vote! ha

The Big Dig

IN THE TRENCHES

Well, it started with a pavilion. Then it progressed into "let's level these sites" and as of today Joe's moved over to the next row to put in sewer connections. Now, that seems simple enough, doesn't it? Well..............not so! We have enough limestone around here to build a skyscraper and they just happened to find some in the ditch they dug for the sewer line. Oh, my............what a job this has turned into. Here are a few photos of the new project.

Bluegrass Church

Many of you may not be aware that Christ United Methodist Church in Halls (north of Knoxville) has a bluegrass service once a month. It is held the 2nd Sunday each month at 9am. The service is traditional with the exception of the music which is provided by a different band each month. The sermon is the same as in the 11am service. However, the choir is not present for the 9am service. Today's group was Greenbrier who did an excellent job providing special music and also accompanying the congregation. They performed one song from their new cd which is due for release on March 29. We have seen several groups there including Shadow Ridge (one of the bands who perform here. The Bluegrass service appears to be one of the most attended services the church has. We especially enjoy it. Usually there are about 5 other folks from our church there. To remember when the service is try this:
If it's 2 it's blue and if it's 9 it's time! Dr. Bruce Marston, Pastor can be reached at 865-922-1412 for information. Tell him his buddies in Kodak sent you!
If you're in Knoxville on the 2nd Sunday of each month, stop by and check it out. Dress is casual and the church is easy to find. Their web address: www.christumc.holston.org
