Merry Christmas !!

Joe and I would like to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. As you can see by the photo, we had a white Christmas. It snowed all day and created quite a beautiful day. However, it wasn't in Tennessee. Our family spent Christmas in Colorado where our daughter and son-in-law live. We hope that wherever you spent your Christmas, you had a wonderful day.

Also, we want to say that our hearts go out to the family of our friend, Marvin Gideon who passed away suddenly this past week. They have been in our thoughts and prayers and we would appreciate your prayers for them, too. Marvin was a great musician who was very gifted, generous with his time and a good friend to many. If you have been to Dumplin Valley on various occasions, I'm sure you have seen him or heard him playing his mandolin either on stage or in a jam. The bluegrass community lost a shining star when he left us.
Again, let us say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Website Update

Have you seen the new website? We are still working on it. Hopefully it won't be much longer until it is fully operational. If you can bear with us while we tweak the information, add photos and edit the spelling, etc. I think you will find it better than the old one. We took a lot of photos in September but if you have any good ones, we would love to see them and maybe even post some on the website or on this blog.
You know, Christmas is just around the corner. It seems that I just haven't been able to get to all the baking, etc. this year. I didn't even mail out Christmas cards! I can't remember the last time that happened. At least I have done the most important task for Joe....................making his "party mix". That's the highlight of the season for him and it is his only request for a Christmas present. I may have to place a warning sign on the container so that anyone eating any of his private stash of party mix won't draw back a nub! He's a little territorial when it comes to his party mix at Christmas! ha
Speaking of Christmas, there is a cute little performance that usually makes the rounds this time of year. It's an e-mail you may or may not have seen. Here is the link to it: http://gpsinformation.info/main/merryxmas.swf Take a look and make sure you turn up the volume.

Sophie Says "Merry Christmas"

Sophie went to the groomer today so we took the opportunity to photograph her while she was still clean. Those of you who visit us during festival time have probably never seen her this clean. So, here she is, looking her best.

Christmas is almost here. It took me a while but I finally got the trees up. Joe says it looks like a forest in here. But I like it. It just doesn't seem festive without a Christmas tree or in our case....trees.

By the way we have another band to add to the September lineup - Big Country Bluegrass. That makes a total of 8 bands that will be performing at Dumplin Valley for the first time. Don't worry, some of your old favorites will be here, too. Pretty soon we should have the lineup complete and hopefully the website will be finished soon.

We hope you are all enjoying the holidays and that you have the best Christmas ever!

Welcome To Dumplin Valley!

If you joined us in September you are already aware that we are going to have 2 shows in 2008. We are really excited to be able to bring even more great bluegrass music to Dumplin Valley for your pleasure.
Every time we run into someone who was here we are asked this question: "Who won the contest?" Well, since our website is undergoing an extreme makeover, we haven't been able to get the word out..........so, here it is.....................Tom Cochran, Polk City, FL. He submitted "Dumplin Valley JuneFest". Actually, there were a few others with that same name or very similar names. And to be fair, we picked one at random. There were so many creative names.........they were all really good. Thanks!

We have finally prepared a flyer to get the dates out for 2008 and also to let everyone know which bands we have lined up so far. Here is a list for June 12-13-14: The Isaacs; Dailey & Vincent; Seldom Scene; Kenny & Amanda Smith; Nothin' Fancy; Steep Canyon Rangers; Balsam Range; Jimbo Whaley & Greenbrier; Dave Peterson & 1946; Tim Graves & Cherokee; Shadow Ridge.

Here is the list so far for September 18-19-20: Rhonda Vincent & The Rage; The Grascals; Bradley Walker; IIIrd Tyme Out; John Reischman & The Jaybirds; Bluegrass Brothers; Dailey & Vincent; Dan Paisley & Southern Grass; Jimbo Whaley & Greenbrier; Balsam Range; James King; Larry Stephenson. Also, The Bluegrass Bus Museum will be back. The complete list will be listed on the website soon. http://www.dumplinvalleybluegrass.com/
If you are planning to camp, please let us know soon. You can call to make your reservations: 865-397-7942. So far, September is almost full and June is coming along pretty good. We enjoyed having everyone here for 2007 and are looking forward to 2008.

Speaking of camping...................we are now operating our camping area as a full time campground - Dumplin Valley Farm RV Park. So, if you are traveling through here and need a good place to spend the night we are here! Also, if you are looking for a good camper..............well, we have our 2000 Wilderness fifth-wheel for sale. Call Joe for information about that.

We hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday. We have much to be thankful for................good bluegrass friends is one thing! Christmas is coming soon and we hope that you and your family & friends will get to spend time together and make some wonderful memories this year.

Thanks for reading this blog (its my first!) and thanks for all your support!
